How it works

  1. 01

    Pick a side, then seal it

    Your browser makes a random salt and computes sha256(market · side · size · salt). Only that hash and your deposit go into the pool. The side never leaves your device.

  2. 02

    The book stays dark

    Everyone can see how much is in the pool and how many sealed positions there are. Nobody can see which way any of it leans, so there's nothing to copy and no stop to hunt.

  3. 03

    Close, reveal, settle

    At the close the oracle (or Polymarket) sets the outcome. Each position is revealed with its salt and checked against its hash. A reveal that doesn't match its hash is void.

  4. 04

    Paid at first light

    The pool pays out pari-mutuel: winners split the whole pot in proportion to their size, minus a 1% fee. On Alpenglow that payout is final in roughly 150ms.

What's hidden and what isn't

Hidden: your side, until the reveal. Visible: your deposit amount and wallet are on-chain, like any Solana transfer. Afterglow hides what you think, not that you played.

FAQ

Is this real money?

Not yet. Afterglow is running in paper mode: a 1,000 USDC paper balance, with the real commit, reveal and settle flow. Real deposits stay off until the on-chain program is audited.

Can anyone see my side?

No. Only a hash of your side, size and a random salt is published. Without the salt the hash can't be reversed, even though only two sides are possible.

Can people see how much I put in?

Yes. Deposits are ordinary on-chain transfers, so the amount and wallet are public. Only the direction is sealed.

What if I lose my salt?

You can't reveal the position, so it's treated as void and can't win. Export an encrypted backup from Positions. It's locked with a passphrase only you know.

How are crypto markets settled?

From the Pyth price at the close time, with Jupiter as a fallback. Nobody votes and nobody can override it.

What are mirrored markets?

Popular live markets copied from Polymarket's public data. Afterglow runs its own sealed pool on the same question and settles when Polymarket resolves it.

What is Alpenglow?

Solana's new consensus protocol. It cuts finality from about 12.8 seconds to around 100–150ms, which is why payouts here land almost the moment a market settles.

Do I need to sign anything?

Connecting only shares your public address. In paper mode Afterglow never asks you to sign, and it never asks for a seed phrase. Ever.
